Swap Monitoring

Derivative contracts are not something to just "put on a shelf" and forget about. Rather, they require the need to dedicate resources to monitor and manage on an on-going basis for the life of the transactions. This includes items such as processing of payments, managing/confirming collateral (if applicable), monitoring the credit quality of counterparties and termination risk, rating agency coordination, and financial reporting (i.e. GASB or FASB requirements). As financial markets continue to evolve, maintaining a strong monitoring base that is not just a web-based product will not only enhance an issuer’s knowledge but will also provide the rating agencies with a tool to reference in supporting its credit decisions.
